Executive Order Category Rationale
Justification
This executive order primarily addresses energy production and environmental regulations rather than climate change mitigation. The order explicitly focuses on "unleash[ing] America's affordable and reliable energy and natural resources" through increased energy exploration and production of oil, natural gas, coal, hydropower, biofuels, and nuclear energy resources on federal lands. While it does revoke numerous climate-focused executive orders and disbands the Interagency Working Group on the Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases, the fundamental purpose is to expand domestic energy development and remove regulatory barriers to energy production—including eliminating the "electric vehicle mandate" and protecting consumer choice in vehicles and appliances. The order's primary impact would be increased domestic energy production across all sources and reduced environmental regulatory constraints on energy development.
